There was a time when I thought I wanted my life to stay the same - smooth, easy winding roads every single day. Now I realize that I learn new things about myself, my relationship with God and how I relate to family and friends each and every day. Some days I am stubborn and refuse to change - insanity here I am! Other days I see letting go of my strong-willed attitude and picking up God's map is the right answer. I no longer crave the sameness, I thrive on the new aspects of my life every day!

Lent Accountability
For Lent I am going to give up one television program every evening and spend that time reading at least one of my devotion books, my Bible and journaling my thoughts from the reading or a daily event. I already journal every morning from my email devotions (Upper Room, Turning Point, Insight for Living), so this will be an additional time for reflection. I would like to include fasting of food again this year but haven't yet figured out how to include that. In the past I have done a 24 hour fast from dinner Thursday to dinner Friday. But by the end of Lent it has lost it's meaning for me. So I will do a bit more meditation on this aspect. Every Sunday I will come here to my blog and be accountable for the past week and any thoughts on the coming week. Please feel free to join me.
Way Too Long
Can't believe it has been so long since I was on here. I feel like I lost my way a few months ago. In the past when I felt myself slipping I could bend over and pull myself up by the boot straps. But something snapped this time on the way down and I couldn't get back up.
Have you ever looked back at a really hard time in your life, shuddered at the pain and disappointment you went thru and then a burst goes off in your head...it was that hurt and pain that brought you to where you are standing right this minute?! My family was so wounded by some of the people at St. Luke's. We stood strong as long as we could. Then we left our home church and headed out into the unknown. When we landed at Church of the Resurrection we really didn't know what to expect, but needed a place to rest and restore. WOW!!! It is turning into so much more than rest and restore. We are finding meaningful sermons, programs and getting our faith back. It feels like we are in this together - not just me trying my best to drag my family into the church. There is something special about COR for us and we want to be there...what a change! Now I feel like I can stop trying to pull and tug and we can let God guide - AS IT SHOULD BE!!!
